 Dec. 12th, 2023 - The Dubois County Bombers, a summer collegiate baseball team located in Huntingburg, Indiana, are looking for highly motivated individuals wanting to break into the sports management industry and join the Bombers for our inaugural season in the nationally-renowned Prospect League (in the summer of 2024).
Several internship positions are available. The Bombers offer both paid and unpaid internships, all offering college credit if wanted or needed. ALL PAID internships for 2024 are currently taken. The best interns every summer will have the opportunity to return in a paid internship role the following season. The starting date is flexible depending on the applicant’s school schedule, but all candidates must be available to begin in late May 2024, with the intent to work until the completion of the schedule in early August (usually the first week of August). Interns will be asked to attend all (or most) of the 28 home games in 2024. Interns will be needed on game nights only and will be expected to arrive to the stadium at ~5pm every (game) night. This is an INCREDIBLE opportunity to work for one of THE best summer collegiate baseball organizations in the entire country, while still maintaining a job during the day of your own, if desired. Huntingburg, IN - Riding off of the success of the 2023 season, the Dubois County Bombers have announced that they will be joining the nationally renowned Prospect League beginning next season in 2024. The Prospect League is one of the oldest, most respected, and most competitive collegiate summer baseball leagues in the nation that’s comprised of 18 teams across Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. The league is widely recognized and acknowledged as having the largest and highest quality facilities (stadiums) in the nation. The league has seen more than 800 of its players reach their dreams of playing professional baseball and as a result receives significant support from baseball coaches and scouts from across the U.S. “For our organization and for our fans, this is a dream come true,” noted Owner & Team President Justin Knepp. “The success of our 2023 season caught the attention of the league and we received an invitation to join. It’s an honor and an opportunity that we simply could not pass up. This will allow our team on the field to compete against the very best of the best every night.” All teams in the Prospect League play a 56 game regular-season schedule, which would guarantee a record 28 Bomber home games at League Stadium each season moving forward. “The competition will be better, the stadiums are the best in summer baseball, and the national appeal and attention is higher,” added co-owner Ara Knepp. “The exposure this will create for our players and for Dubois County is surreal.” The Prospect League carries significant momentum into the 2023 offseason with the league recently setting multiple attendance records, including a 23% increase in fan attendance compared to 2022. Total fan attendance in the Prospect League was the best among all summer collegiate leagues. The Bombers will be exiting the Ohio Valley League, where they have competed since 2013. Dubois County Bombers Now Hiring for Seasonal Front Office Manager with Competitive Salary9/12/2023  The Dubois County Bombers are now hiring for a Front Office Manager for the 2024 season and beyond. This is a seasonal (summer) position with a highly competitive salary commensurate with experience.
Given the explosive growth of the team in the 2023 season, we are looking for a candidate with incredible organizational and communication skills to help manage multiple front office duties during the season. This will be a highly visible position within the organization. This is a hybrid commute position with the ideal candidate needing to be available to work in the team's newly renovated front office at League Stadium throughout the day during the week as needed, while also having ample opportunities to work from home throughout the week as well. The ideal candidate will also be expected to work during every Bombers home game (from about 5:30pm - 10:30pm). Again, the schedule will provide a lot of flexibility. Some days will absolutely require the position to be at the stadium during the day, while other days will allow work from home. No two days will be the same. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -Assisting with invoicing of group ticket sales and advertising packages. -Managing and ordering inventory in our gift shop, stadium bars, and more. -Assisting with the planning & management of our unique, one-of-a-kind promo nights. -Answering the team phone and answering team-related emails from fans and vendors alike. -Ordering meals in advance for the team for road trips. -Helping to manage the delivery of items to stadium. -Being available to assist with school field trips touring the stadium. -Managing several aspects of game day. The ideal candidate might be someone who has summers off--such as teachers, professors, etc. The position will report directly to the Team President. The Ohio Valley League will have a 12th team in our 12th Season. We continue to grow into a larger and more competitive Summer collegiate baseball league. The newest member of the Ohio Valley League will be the Clarksville, TN Whirlybirds. The Whirlybirds will open League play on Thursday, 1 June, at the Full Count Rhythm in Hendersonville, TN. Their first home game will be on Saturday, 3 June, against the Hoptown Hoppers.
The Whirlybirds will be part of the South division. The South division will include the Bowling Green Pistons (formerly the Franklin Duelers), Hopkinsville Hoppers, Hendersonville Full Count Rhythm, Paducah Chiefs, and Fulton Railroaders. The North division will include the Louisville Jockeys, Dubois County Bombers, Owensboro Riverdawgs, Henderson Flash, Muhlenberg Stallions, and Madisonville Miners. The 2023 OVL Season will start on Thursday, 1 June, and our postseason Tournament will end on Sunday, 30 July. The League will play 43 games during the regular season followed by the Tournament which begins on Friday, 21 July. Teams will play other teams within their division five times and the teams in the opposite division three times. The Championship Tournament series will consist of three rounds of best-of-three-game series culminating on Sunday, 30 July, with a post Season Champion. This is a seasonal paid position offering a base salary plus an opportunity to earn generous commission.
The Ticket Sales Manager will be responsible for selling and servicing new business accounts while also creating new ideas to increase group ticket sales. The ideal candidate must have a customer service and 'fans first' mindset and be motivated to sell group tickets to area companies and organizations of all types. The position will be expected to meet reasonable activity minimums each week by contacting a targeted number of groups and businesses via email and phone. This candidate MUST be detail-oriented and very organized. Basic computer knowledge and ability to learn some basic computer programs is a requirement. Must be able to pick up the phone and confidently talk to companies and organizations to tell them why Bombers game packages are a great investment for their organization and staff. This position will run from March 1st until July 15th each season. This is an important new role with the Bombers Front Office that is a 'low stress' sales opportunity. We want someone motivated to see more fans in our seats and in our upper deck party area, but someone who is also motivated by sales and making some great money as a secondary income. The ideal candidate will be able to commit 5-6 hours per week to this position. We will provide an initial lead list / business directory for the new position, but we will want this candidate to be able to find and contact area businesses (inside and outside of Dubois County) on their own. The organization is looking to take our digital content to the next level with video. We're looking for a candidate with videography production experience (taking video, editing video, publishing video). The ideal candidate will need to be able to attend most home games to capture and produce video on the field with our players, and off the field with our fans. The goal is to produce short videos to share on our website and social media channels to better demonstrate what the fan game day experience is all about, and why these games are so entertaining and special. The ideal candidate will be given a lot of creative freedom to produce these FUN videos. We want someone to push the innovative boundaries of sports video content. This is a part-time, paid position with salary commensurate with experience, ideas & execution.
The Bombers Boosters is a new 501(c) non-profit volunteer organization managed by the team and its biggest fans. Through fundraising at Bombers games (and other community events), the goal is to raise money that is used toward unique team activities, team meals, fan events and more. These activities, meals & events play a huge part in helping to create the best possible experience for our players each summer. Ultimately, the mission of the Bombers Boosters is to help elevate the player experience and boost team morale. We believe a team that is interacting with each other, its fans, and its community is a team that is building chemistry and having FUN. A team that is having fun OFF the field is a team that performs well ON the field. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is a huge fan of the team. We want someone with the ability to come up new ideas and be able to execute those ideas of fun and meaningful things the team can be doing with each other and within the community. This candidate will also help lead a new effort to find organizations, families and individuals willing to help feed the team in a sit-down setting after home games--a new tradition we plan to implement in 2023. As a 501c, the Bombers Boosters will fundraise through a variety of ways (including legalized 50-50 raffles at each home game) to help fund these new ideas, meals & team activities. The new Director will be responsible for organizing the staffing efforts for these fundraisers through their own personal network, in addition to the (new) Bombers Boosters volunteers that we expect to join the program. Qualified candidates must be well-organized and passionate about creating the best possible 'off the field' experiences for our players! As a part time position, this Director will be expected to help the team (virtually, from home) during the months of May, June & July. Huntingburg, IN - The Dubois County Bombers have announced a change in team ownership, effective immediately. A new ownership group consisting of Justin Knepp, Ara Knepp, and Barton Lewis have acquired majority control of the team and its operations from longtime local owners/operators, Mike & Mary Uebelhor, Ashley Blessinger and others. Members of the new group are no strangers to the team or to Dubois County. Justin & Ara Knepp have been minority owners of the team since 2015 with local ties to the area and the community. Ara (Uebelhor) Knepp was born and raised in Huntingburg, IN and is a 1999 graduate of Southridge High School. Justin Knepp is a 1999 graduate of Barr-Reeve High School in nearby Daviess County. Their last eight summers have been spent attending countless Bombers games with their three young boys. Justin previously worked for the team as the Director of Online Ticketing. Both Justin and Ara own and manage multiple, successful businesses throughout the Fishers and Indianapolis areas. Barton Lewis hails from Carmel, Indiana and is a 1998 graduate of Western Boone High School and has attended many Dubois County Bombers games over the last five years. As a graduate of the Art Institute of Indianapolis in Visual Communications, he will bring a fresh new focus on the creative, visual, and social media direction of the team, including a new emphasis on branding, videography and more. He also brings a deep and passionate baseball background to the organization. “Simply put, the three of us are baseball fanatics, Dubois County Bombers fanatics, and League Stadium fanatics” noted (Justin) Knepp. “We will bring an exciting new energy and enthusiasm to the team with a huge focus on increased entertainment before, during and after each game.” All three members of the new ownership group will be living in Dubois County for the duration of the entire summer season each year to operate and manage the team with a hands-on approach. “I’m excited to return to the community that I love to elevate our fan and player experience to rival any baseball organization at any level,” added (Ara) Knepp. “We recognize how special this organization is and how special League Stadium is,” added Lewis. “If you already enjoy the Dubois County Bombers experience at League Stadium now, you won’t believe some of the things we’re bringing to the 2023 season to make the game day experience even more fun and memorable for families.” Mike Uebelhor, Mary Uebelhor and Ashley Blessinger will step aside after nine successful years of leading the team and creating a family-friendly atmosphere and experience that’s second to none in the area and the Ohio Valley League.
