Dec. 12th, 2023 - The Dubois County Bombers, a summer collegiate baseball team located in Huntingburg, Indiana, are looking for highly motivated individuals wanting to break into the sports management industry and join the Bombers for our inaugural season in the nationally-renowned Prospect League (in the summer of 2024).
Several internship positions are available. The Bombers offer both paid and unpaid internships, all offering college credit if wanted or needed. ALL PAID internships for 2024 are currently taken. The best interns every summer will have the opportunity to return in a paid internship role the following season. The starting date is flexible depending on the applicant’s school schedule, but all candidates must be available to begin in late May 2024, with the intent to work until the completion of the schedule in early August (usually the first week of August). Interns will be asked to attend all (or most) of the 28 home games in 2024. Interns will be needed on game nights only and will be expected to arrive to the stadium at ~5pm every (game) night. Huntingburg, IN - Riding off of the success of the 2023 season, the Dubois County Bombers have announced that they will be joining the nationally renowned Prospect League beginning next season in 2024. The Prospect League is one of the oldest, most respected, and most competitive collegiate summer baseball leagues in the nation that’s comprised of 18 teams across Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. The league is widely recognized and acknowledged as having the largest and highest quality facilities (stadiums) in the nation. The league has seen more than 800 of its players reach their dreams of playing professional baseball and as a result receives significant support from baseball coaches and scouts from across the U.S. “For our organization and for our fans, this is a dream come true,” noted Owner & Team President Justin Knepp. “The success of our 2023 season caught the attention of the league and we received an invitation to join. It’s an honor and an opportunity that we simply could not pass up. This will allow our team on the field to compete against the very best of the best every night.” All teams in the Prospect League play a 56 game regular-season schedule, which would guarantee a record 28 Bomber home games at League Stadium each season moving forward. “The competition will be better, the stadiums are the best in summer baseball, and the national appeal and attention is higher,” added co-owner Ara Knepp. “The exposure this will create for our players and for Dubois County is surreal.” The Prospect League carries significant momentum into the 2023 offseason with the league recently setting multiple attendance records, including a 23% increase in fan attendance compared to 2022. We continue to grow into a larger and more competitive Summer collegiate baseball league. The newest member of the Ohio Valley League will be the Clarksville, TN Whirlybirds. The Whirlybirds will open League play on Thursday, 1 June, at the Full Count Rhythm in Hendersonville, TN. Their first home game will be on Saturday, 3 June, against the Hoptown Hoppers. The Whirlybirds will be part of the South division. The South division will include the Bowling Green Pistons (formerly the Franklin Duelers), Hopkinsville Hoppers, Hendersonville Full Count Rhythm, Paducah Chiefs, and Fulton Railroaders. The North division will include the Louisville Jockeys, Dubois County Bombers, Owensboro Riverdawgs, Henderson Flash, Muhlenberg Stallions, and Madisonville Miners. The 2023 OVL Season will start on Thursday, 1 June, and our postseason Tournament will end on Sunday, 30 July. The League will play 43 games during the regular season followed by the Tournament which begins on Friday, 21 July. Teams will play other teams within their division five times and the teams in the opposite division three times. The Championship Tournament series will consist of three rounds of best-of-three-game series culminating on Sunday, 30 July, with a post Season Champion. This is a seasonal paid position offering a base salary plus an opportunity to earn generous commission. The Ticket Sales Manager will be responsible for selling and servicing new business accounts while also creating new ideas to increase group ticket sales. The ideal candidate must have a customer service and 'fans first' mindset and be motivated to sell group tickets to area companies and organizations of all types. The position will be expected to meet reasonable activity minimums each week by contacting a targeted number of groups and businesses via email and phone. This candidate MUST be detail-oriented and very organized. Basic computer knowledge and ability to learn some basic computer programs is a requirement. Must be able to pick up the phone and confidently talk to companies and organizations to tell them why Bombers game packages are a great investment for their organization and staff. This position will run from March 1st until July 15th each season. This is an important new role with the Bombers Front Office that is a 'low stress' sales opportunity. We want someone motivated to see more fans in our seats and in our upper deck party area, but someone who is also motivated by sales and making some great money as a secondary income. The ideal candidate will be able to commit 5-6 hours per week to this position. We will provide an initial lead list / business directory for the new position, but we will want this candidate to be able to find and contact area businesses (inside and outside of Dubois County) on their own. This is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to generate recurring income each year through the business partnerships you create along the way.
