Bombers Announce 2013 Roster
Greg Gogel, assistant baseball coach at Forest Park High School and former head coach at Crawford County High School where he compiled a 65-28 record, joins the Bombers coaching staff as the new pitching coach. Gogel is a graduate of Heritage Hills High School and a 2007 graduate of Hanover College where he starred in baseball for four years and also played football for two seasons for the Panthers. He is married to the former Jenna Burton and resides in Huntingburg.
Mark Peters has been named as Director of Player Personnel and will be responsible, along with coach Fink, for the recruiting and signing players to fill the roster for 2013. Peters, a native of Huntingburg, has been connected to high school and college baseball the past eighteen years as both a coach and recruiter, sending players to well known baseball schools such as Vanderbilt, University of Louisville, Evansville, Cincinnati, Purdue, Indiana State, South Carolina, and Alabama-Birmingham.
He is the founder and current president of Ironmen Summer Baseball Club, serves on the national boards of Fellowship of Christian Athletes Baseball, and NuLife Ministry in Haiti. Peters and his wife Lisa reside in Huntingburg and have two daughters.
"We are excited and honored to add Mark to our staff, and the connections and experience he brings to our organization," said Skip Kruger, Bombers general manager.
Zach Long: Field Assistant
Wes Fink: Head Coach
Wes Fink was a local favorite as a player for the Bombers during the 2006-2009 seasons. He also played for the University of Southern Indiana at shortstop and captained the team to the Division II National Championship title in 2010. He’s married to Abby (Leistner) Fink of Holland and resides in Huntingburg.
“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to coach, especially for a program that I was so fortunate to be a part of as a player,” Fink said. “I’ve got big shoes to fill."
Greg Gogel: Pitching Coach
Mark Peters: Director of Player Personnel
Zach Long, former third baseman for the Bombers and a four-year starter for Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee, will join the Bombers staff as a field assistant.
"We hope Zach's work ethic and love of the game will transfer quickly to each of our players," head coach Wes Fink said. Long is a life-long resident of Jefferson City.
