Bombers Sign Local Talent
The Bombers have signed Dubois County natives Derek Katter and Brett Merkley for the 2009 summer. Katter, a graduate of Jasper High School will man the outfield. Merkley, who spent his high school days at Forest Park, joins the Bombers as a right-handed pitcher. For more information, vist the news tab at the top of the page for the release.

SUMMER 2008: Emerged as one of the top hitters in the CICL...finished near the top of the league with a .292 average...added nine doubles and two home runs...posted 49 hits to tie for fifth in the league...26 RBIs tied for seventh...2009 will mark the fourth season in Dubois County for Wes.
SOPHOMORE (2008): Played 50 games as a sophomore, making 49 starts...tied for the team lead with five home runs and tied for fourth with 31 RBIs...batted .280 and had 32 runs scored...had 10 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI contests...had a season-best seven game hitting streak...had a season-best four hits and three RBIs against Quincy University...set the USI single-season record by being hit by a pitch 20 times.
AS A FRESHMAN (2007): Played for Jackson State Community College (Jackson, Tennessee)...batted .297 with 35 RBIs and 13 doubles in his only season with the Generals...began his collegiate career by redshirting at the University of Memphis in 2005.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in baseball, basketball, and football at Clarksville High School (Clarksville, Tennessee)...batted .400 with four home runs and 38 RBIs as a senior...named the 2005 The Leaf-Chronicle's All-Area Baseball Co-Player of the Year...also was selected as the All-Area Football Player of the Year as a senior...had a 21 game hitting streak in 2005.
