Bombers Sign Local Talent
The Bombers have signed Dubois County natives Derek Katter and Brett Merkley for the 2009 summer. Katter, a graduate of Jasper High School will man the outfield. Merkley, who spent his high school days at Forest Park, joins the Bombers as a right-handed pitcher. For more information, vist the news tab at the top of the page for the release.

SUMMER 2008: Appeared in nine games with five starts for the Bombers...fired a complete game against the Springfield Sliders (6/19)...threw seven strong innings and allowed only two earned runs against Springfield (7/14).

AT OLNEY CENTRAL COLLEGE (2007-08): Played two seasons for the Blue Knights...named to the First Team All-Great Rivers Athletics Conference during his sophomore season...was a JUCO Academic All-American as a sophomore...compiled 68 innings of work with a 1.94 ERA and a 7-3 record as a sophomore for OCC...played for head coach Dennis Conley.

SUMMER 200 7: Appeared in 20 games for the Bombers with one start...compiled a solid 3.55 ERA in 38 innings of work...walked only 12 batters.

HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: Named to the All-Indiana High School Athletic Association First Team as a senior...selected in the 44 th round of the 2006 Major League First Year Player Draft by the Baltimore Orioles.
