BOMBER NEWS

The Bombers have announced that they will play two exhibition games before the Prospect League Opening Day. The first will be held on Monday, May 30th against the Old School All-Stars. The second will be held the following night, Tuesday, May 31 against the Jasper Reds. Both games will start at 7:15pm EDT at League Stadium in Huntingburg.
Steve Cishek, a pitching prospect in the Florida Marlins farm system, was called up to the big leagues on May 11th, and sent back down to AAA affiliate New Orleans the next day. RHP Javier Vasquez was put on the Marlins' bereavement list on the 11th, but his return resulted in Cishek's stay being a short one. Cishek is 1-1 with a 2.00 ERA this season with AAA New Orleans.
On May 11th, the Dubois County Bombers released their preliminary 2011 roster. One detail that jumps out is the overall size of the team this year, with 11 players standing 6'3" or taller. RHP Eric Panick, of St. Joseph's College, is the tallest team member at 6'8". The 2011 Bombers also have brought in a range of home-grown talent, with seven players whose hometowns are in Indiana. RHP David Mueller is the only returning Bomber from last year's team.
