Bombers Sign Local Talent
The Bombers have signed Dubois County natives Derek Katter and Brett Merkley for the 2009 summer. Katter, a graduate of Jasper High School will man the outfield. Merkley, who spent his high school days at Forest Park, joins the Bombers as a right-handed pitcher. For more information, vist the news tab at the top of the page for the release.

PREP/PERSONAL: Joins the Hoosiers after one year under Bill Beard and three under Bernie Kroeger at Rivet ... had an impressive senior season, throwing 67 1/3 innings ... went 7-3 with a 0.73 ERA and a whopping 136 strikeouts for the 1A school ... garnered a multitude of honors following the season ... was named All-Area Player of the Year, All-Blue Chip Conference and All-Southwestern Indiana ... was named his team's Pitcher of the Year in each of his final three seasons ... helped Rivet to sectional championships in both 2006 and 2008 ... won the team's MVP award in 2005 as well ... also played basketball and soccer at Rivet ... parents are Kevin and Clara Igel ... has three sisters, Sara, Jennifer and Emily ... intends to major in general studies at IU ... born on Oct. 23, 1989.
