Bombers Sign Local Talent
The Bombers have signed Dubois County natives Derek Katter and Brett Merkley for the 2009 summer. Katter, a graduate of Jasper High School will man the outfield. Merkley, who spent his high school days at Forest Park, joins the Bombers as a right-handed pitcher. For more information, vist the news tab at the top of the page for the release.

LAYTON HIGH SCHOOL:First-team all-state at Layton in 2008 ... .500 batting average with 34 RBI as a senior ...2008 Utah All-Star Game ... one of top 15 players in the state by the Baseball Academy ... first-team all-region in 2006 and 2007 ... runs a 6.6 60-yard dash ... two time first team all-area (2006-07) ... selected to the Jr. Olympic team (2006) ... 2007 Prospect Games MVP ... three-year starter and four-year letterwinner at Layton High ... team's leading pitcher and hitter ... hit .459 with eight doubles, five home runs and 23 RBI in 2007 ... played summer ball in the Omaha Pro Tournament in Nebraska ... three-sport athlete, also playing football (quarterback) and basketball (point guard).

Utah Coach Bill Kinneberg says: "Gavin is a great athlete with a lot speed. He played three sports in high school, but as he devotes his full attention to baseball, we feel he should become a great college player."
