Bombers Sign Local Talent
The Bombers have signed Dubois County natives Derek Katter and Brett Merkley for the 2009 summer. Katter, a graduate of Jasper High School will man the outfield. Merkley, who spent his high school days at Forest Park, joins the Bombers as a right-handed pitcher. For more information, vist the news tab at the top of the page for the release.

: Pieced together a standout freshman year at Vincennes University...started all 51 games for the 32-19 Trailblazers...batted .354 with 10 doubles, four triples, and 29 RBIs...also drew 21 walks and stole seven bases...outstanding centerfielder did not commit an error...possesses top-level speed at the centerfield position and a left-handed bat tailor made for the lead-off position.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played his high school baseball at Jasper High School in Jasper, Ind...selected Indiana All-State Honorable Mention as a senior...led the Wildcats to a 2006 Class 3A State Championship against Norwell and First-Round Draft Pick Jarrod Parker...posted three hits and scored three runs in the title game...played for the Evansville Razorbacks during the 2007 summer where he posted a .308 batting average and .462 on-base percentage against elite Indiana and Midwestern talent.
