Bombers Sign Local Talent
The Bombers have signed Dubois County natives Derek Katter and Brett Merkley for the 2009 summer. Katter, a graduate of Jasper High School will man the outfield. Merkley, who spent his high school days at Forest Park, joins the Bombers as a right-handed pitcher. For more information, vist the news tab at the top of the page for the release.

SUMMER 2008: Emerged as a top-flight starting pitcher for the Bombers...led the starting pitching staff with a 2.83 ERA over 54.1 innings of work...started nine games...finished with a 3-1 record including one complete game...expected to be an anchor in the Bombers' 2009 starting rotation.

2008 (SOPHOMORE): Appeared in 19 games starting 11 after earning a starting role mid-way through the season ... Compiled a 4-3 record with one save in 64.1 innings of work ... Pitched 6.0 innings against Memphis allowing three runs on seven hits ... In league action, appeared in 10 games starting four with a 2-2 record in 29 innings ... Posted an ERA of 4.66 while striking out 12 ... Took the win over South Alabama after pitching a complete 7.0 innings against the Jaguars ... Allowed one run on six hits with three strike outs in the inning ... Against Florida Atlantic allowed two runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings of work ... Took the win over Troy after allowing thee runs on six hits in 6.0 innings of work.

2007: Underwent season-ending surgery in January and redshirted.

2006 (FRESHMAN):
Righthander who suffered through ups and downs during the season, tossing 25.2 innings with a 1-2 record and one save ... Walked 11 and struck out 17, starting five contests ... Worked four innings at Belmont in first career appearance, a start, allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts and getting no decision ... Roughed up at Memphis, giving up eight runs on six hits in 1.2 innings in a start, taking the loss ... Tossed two innings of relief at Southern Illinois, allowing a run ... Gave up five runs, three earned, on seven hits in four-plus innings in a start at Austin Peay, taking his second defeat ... Tossed a scoreless inning and struck out one against both Samford and at Lipscomb ... Worked 1.2 scoreless innings at New Orleans, striking out one ... Tossed 6.0 innings in Sunday start versus Western Kentucky, picking up first career win, allowing three earned runs and striking out four ... Roughed up in start at South Alabama, giving up six runs in 1.1 innings ... Allowed four runs in three innings against Arkansas State and two runs without getting an out at Florida International.
