Bombers Sign Local Talent

The Bombers have signed Dubois County natives Derek Katter and Brett Merkley for the 2009 summer. Katter, a graduate of Jasper High School will man the outfield. Merkley, who spent his high school days at Forest Park, joins the Bombers as a right-handed pitcher. For more information, vist the news tab at the top of the page for the release.

AS A F RESHMAN (2008) : Pieced together an outstanding season making 46 starts at Lincoln Land C.C. under Head Coach Ron Riggle...batted .331 with a team-leading nine homeruns and 55 RBIs...reached base at an impressive .403 clip...slugged a whopping .609...went 3-for-5 with a homerun and three RBIs versus Pasco-Hernando C.C. (3/13/2008)...pounded two homeruns and five RBIs against Danville Area C.C. (3/25)...blasted a home run, drove in two runs, and scored two runs against Danville Area C.C. (3/27)...went 2-for-3 with two doubles against Shawnee C.C. (4/8)...notched five RBIs against Hannibal LaGrange 4/9)...went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a home run, a double, and five RBIs against John Wood C.C. (4/15).

HIGH SCHOOL: 2007 graduate of Auburn High School...sophomore year was a State Hitting Derby finalist, Sports Page Player of the Year, and a member of the Elite 8 team...named to the State Journal-Register All-Star Team his sophomore and junior years...selected to the Prairie State First-Team All-Conference his sophomore, junior, and senior years...named to the Sangamo First-Team All-Conference his senior year...won the State Journal-Register Classic Home Run Derby as a senior
